Regional Children's Health Initiative

In the spring of 2003, Colusa, El Dorado, Sacramento and Yuba counties decided to create the first regional Children’s Health Initiative (CHI) to enhance local outreach, enrollment and retention activities, maximize families’ appropriate utilization of services, and develop a model regional Healthy Kids insurance product that is portable across all counties participating in the region. The regional collaborative is called Healthy Kids, Healthy Future.  The regional CHI’s primary goal is to insure that “Every child in the Sierra Sacramento Valley area will have access to comprehensive, affordable, and continuous health coverage and a medical home that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.” In December 2006 Placer County joined our regional initiative and we look forward to them offering its Healthy Kids program in July, 2007.
